In light of the recent economic turmoil, venues are turning from hiring out rooms for private parties to approaching businesses interested in holding corporate events. It seems there is more justification for having a fun day out teambuilding than having an evening holding a lavish party. We take a look at the types of corporate events on offer to see if it is possible to still throw a good old fashioned party to get ahead in business.
One of the most popular corporate events for businesses is a team building day. Team building is used by companies to strengthen bonds between colleagues and to identify new skills that could be of benefit in the workplace. Team building days can be structured with set activities that are specifically aimed at identifying useful skills or they can be more sociable affairs.
Structured days may involve treasure hunts or specific tasks such as organising and delivering a fashion event. This type of corporate event allows each member of staff the chance to demonstrate their strengths, something that is not always possible in the workplace. It also gives an opportunity for colleagues to get to know each other on a deeper level, which in turn can enhance working relations and cooperation.
Structured team building events ultimately help a business run more efficiently as strengths and weaknesses are identified, which means that job roles can be adjusted to suit each person. It may also strengthen bonds within a team at work which will yield greater productivity. Alternatively, a more social corporate event could be organised which has the potential to reap similar rewards.
Businesses are expected to be able to demonstrate that they have corporate social responsibility, and as such corporate events can be organised to raise money for charity. Holding a themed charity event or a gala as part of a team building exercise has the potential to push the skills and abilities of each member of staff whilst encouraging networking and bonding.
The challenge of organising an event will give staff a chance to demonstrate skills that would otherwise go unnoticed in the workplace. It will also allow a network of bonds to be created across disciplines, something that is hard to achieve whilst working. The actual event will bring with it a chance to network with other industry professionals and even meet potential clients. Ultimately, it will bring much needed visibility to a company through fundraising; and to keep afloat at this time is the most important aspect of staying successful.

Do You Need More Power In Motivating People, These Simple Steps Will Give You Real Power To Motivate
Where do you start. If there was just one thing that you could concentrate on it would make managing easier. This is one point. It like so many other things, it so easy to learn but will take a lifetime to master.
In every situation find out what the person you are communicating with wants, and show them how to get it.
The quicker you realise that people are essentially all the same, the easier it will be to deal with them. Many people spend there entire lives wanting something and never taking the action to achieve it. When you truely understand this you have the key to motivating people.
Principle No one.
Two key steps here.
1) Unless you ask someone what it is they want, it is unlikely you will ever know. If you ask and find out then show them how to get it, they will be motivated.
2) A true Leader is a person who motivates people to take action The person taking action is doing it because of some direct benefit to themselves. They have self motivation. An unstoppable power.
This may seem too simple but it is absolutly true. In not asking the question you will miss a golden opportunity to become a great manager, salesperson, business owner.
Think about that for a minute. We are all constantly thinking about what we want. It rules our life and totally dominates us. So, if we are all doing it, accept it as a reality. Do not try and change it, you cannot. You can force, manipulate and bully people into doing what you want, but the reality in the short medium and long term it will not work.
In a work or social space people will go along only because they are getting what they want. If it is only the salary then things are off the rails and the organisation will operate at a very low efficiency level (read profit).
Principle No. two
The greater the amount of time you spend showing people how to get what they want, the quicker you will achieve your goals.
Think about it. You can make people happy but you will be dissatisfied. This leads to disillusionment because you are not achieving your own goals. Maintain a single focus. By helping these people achieve what they want, am I reaching my desired goals? If the answer is no, examine the relationship.
You may need to make some changes and eliminate any abusive element in the relationship.
Principle No. three
It is easier to find out what a person wants by using friendly and gentle questions than by telling them what you want to do and asking them is it ok to go along. They will possibly say yes with resentment.
Master the art of asking question.
Find out what they want.
Outline a course of action or a series of tasks that will give them what they want.
In the process of getting what they want.
You achieve your goals which is what you wanted all along.
Principle No. four
By applying these principles you will earn more money. If you dedicate yourself to them you will make a lot more money. What to do with it.
If you do not have a mortgage, save the money to buy an investment property first by obtaining a mortgage. Contact a mortgage broker for all the information you need. If you have a property, follow these simple steps:
Calculate the amount of money you need to live on in a month and then put the rest of the money into the mortgage as an extra payment every month. The safest way of doing this is to set a fixed sum. $500, $1000, $1500 a month as AN EXTRA PAYMENT. Do not fall into the trap of deciding at the end of each month how much is left over for this extra payment because there will not be any.
When you pay your mortgage and it will be very quickly, redraw the mortgage and buy another property or consider other wealth creating investment. You will need a financial planner.
Principle No. five
Contact a mortgage broker and find out what the effect of the extra payment is on your mortgage and the time frames to be able to redraw it. They have mortgage calculator and software that will allow you to build an investment plan for yourself.
John E Edwards explains how a mortgage is a wealth creation tool, and how to use the mortgage effectively to start creating wealth in your life now. Contact a specialist to get you on the right path now.

Team building is an important aspect to any business, without it some teams work less well together. At a time when finances are a big issue it is very important that teams within companies work well together. One of the biggest issues of teams is team communication and this article will look at team building and communication, both of which are crucial to build a successful team within the work place. So if you are considering some team activities for your colleagues or company this article will hell with the most important aspect, the communication.
First of all, a team that does not communicate is not a team at all; it is just a group of individuals working toward their own goals. There are two sides to communication, both the speaker and the listener. It is the job of the speaker to convey their message in a clear and concise manner so that the listener can understand completely. This requires the speaker to understand the background of their audience and use appropriate language to present their message. If messages are communicated via email, or in a written format the chance to misconstrue them is larger. It is always advisable to have someone else proofread them before they are sent to check that nothing is left ambiguous.
A listener’s role is to play close attention to all the details of what the speaker is saying. In order to achieve this the listener needs to give the speaker their full attention at all times and not be doing anything else other than listening. If it is necessary the listener should take notes of what is being said so they can refer back to them at a later date if needed. If the listener finds themselves not understanding a point brought up by the speaker then they should ask for clarification.
There needs to be real balance in communication in the workplace, this can be achieved through team building tasks and activities. Too much communication is often unnecessary; you do not have to report on every single detail and should often work with some initiative. Yet too little communication is counter-productive too, as presumptions should not be made on important projects. If team members have an uncertainty or problem within their task then they should most definitely communicate these feelings otherwise tension can build up and problems will not be solved.

Starting work in an office of strangers after university can be a daunting experience; I found that when I started my new job people were very busy. It wasn’t that they were unfriendly; it was just there was a lot of work to do for long hours. Colleagues sometimes like to all go to the pub together after work to bond on a personal level as well as a business one, but in my new job people had to get home after a late night at the office. This left me feeling rather alienated and although I saw these people everyday, I didn’t feel like I knew anyone.
When our manager called everyone for a meeting after the first couple of weeks I had started I was nervous that we were in trouble! Luckily there was a smile on her face when we entered the meeting room and she explained how she had booked a team building event for us all to take part in. Although there was a slight groan in the room I personally looked forward to this idea, welcoming the idea that we would all get to know one another a bit better.
The day came around and I really didn’t know what to expect, it was strange being around these familiar yet unknown people. The team building exercise itself was fantastic; it was based on the popular TV show ‘The Apprentice’. Much like the show we all had to work as a team to perform tasks, which created a learning experience that was really fun. Our team started warming to one another a lot quicker and because the pressure was off that we usually experienced within the office friendships were forming.
By the end of the day we had all had some fun and learnt some clever techniques for working together, even our manager looked far more relaxed than I had ever seen her. Clearly the environment we had created today would be easy to replicate in the office and because we didn’t feel like strangers anymore stressful situations could be dealt with better due to a higher level of communication. The team building had done exactly what it said it would and we all felt that if things went wrong at work there was far more of a shared responsibility than there had been. Now when I work with my colleagues I feel far happier and confident and look forward to each day working with people I can now call friends.

Hiring a company that specializes in corporate team building has become very popular in the last 10 years or so because their programs work and they’re fun! If you’ve long considered holding a corporate team building event but have been hesitant, here are some great reasons why you should take the plunge.
What does a corporate team building service do and who are the people in charge?
A team of experts will arrange an event specifically tailored to meet your company’s needs and goals. Some examples of events and programs include action-packed treasure hunts and mystery games, philanthropic projects, goal-oriented participatory games and many other unique and fun activities that will help bring out the best in your employees and help teams get to know each other better.
A good corporate team building service only hires the best, brightest, and most fun people in town who will help your teams build cohesion while keeping them entertained too. Those in charge might be professional team building trainers, special events planners, games designers, and even improvisational comedy experts. All of these folks work together to create and execute a memorable and productive event for your corporation.
Why might I want to hold such an event?
There are a myriad of reasons why a company would benefit from holding a special team building event. Perhaps your corporation has just merged with another and new employees are trying to figure out where they fit in with their new working environment. You may be facing a large project and want the team members in charge to get to know each other’s strengths and learn to trust one another and take risks.
Whatever the particular reasons, a corporate team building service’s individualized event will help your team to build trust, open lines of communication, and learn to work as a cohesive unit toward a common goal. You may only need to give employees who have been working under terrible stress a chance to relax and have fun together.
The company that plays together bonds together, but employers don’t always know how best to go about achieving that elusive goal of team unity. Hiring an outside service with no ax to grind will help your employees to enjoy themselves with no fear of judgment or retribution of any kind. Corporate team builders can be a valuable tool in helping break down the natural barriers that arise between people who work closely together on a daily basis. The positive attitude and healthy relationships that may come from a fun event may make all the difference in achieving your company’s goals.

There are many ways to inspire a team of workers to try harder, work faster and increase productivity, but using an iron fist isn’t one of them. The best way to encourage a group of people to become more productive is to recognise their skills and shower them with praise. This guide will help you get the most out of team building and bonding for a group of people that work together every day.
Being part of a team is about working together, but sometimes job roles can prevent people from using their full potential in the desire to just get the job done. This often means that communication is broken down between colleagues and there is a feeling of isolation. The result of this situation is a group of workers that are overwhelmed with apathy and lack the insight to achieve for a common goal.
Team building exercises are designed to address this problem by encouraging colleagues to come together in an informal and social environment. Meeting outside of the workplace enables barriers to be broken down and new, more natural hierarchies to be formed. The exercises and tasks are also designed to highlight hidden skills and undesirable behaviour, which encourages each person to find their ideal niche according to tasks set, not according to a position at work.
This means that it is possible for the office cleaner to be in charge of a group comprised of managing directors. By allowing new orders to be formed, the management get a chance to see the full potential of their employees, and therefore establish the correct working roles for each individual. Team building also helps to establish a different type of bond between fellow workers outside of the usual constraints of a working environment.
Team building events can be based on any number of themes, from treasure hunts to TV quiz shows. If your team works in a highly driven environment, choose an event that offers a chance to try out some recreational activities. Outdoor themed days for example offer archery, clay pigeon shooting, and even geese herding. Although these may not seem like tasks that will highlight skills that are applicable in a working environment, you would be surprised at the skills that are demonstrated just through organising teams and working out a strategy. For this reason, the key to organising a team building event is to choose a day that offers the most fun for the majority of those involved.

Days off sick, lack of inspiration, reduction in productivity; these are classic signs of a worker who has lost the drive to achieve. If you feel that your staff are suffering from a lackadaisical attitude at work it is time to inject some inspiration back into the job. By making workers feel wanted, it is possible to up the output of any business and create a better working environment for everyone. Here’s how team building can help individuals and companies succeed.
The basic principles of team building activities are to better understand the way individuals and groups work in an atmosphere that is light hearted and fun. The types of activities can range from putting on a catwalk show, to playing a nationwide treasure hunt and even incorporate a day of making music from tin cans and tubas.
The purpose of the day is to remove any hierarchies that may be in place in the working environment and see what new strengths shine, and what bad habits become apparent. Through team building it is possible to identify skills of individuals that have not been seen before but would be an asset to the company if used correctly.
Although primarily directed toward improving work related relations and performance, participating in team building activities can have a profound impact on the personal lives of those who attend. The environment created by the event coordinators is well known for boosting the confidence of ordinarily shy or timid people. Creating confidence in a person will benefit them socially as well as professionally, ultimately leading to a better quality of life.
Such changes in attitude will be reflected in the workplace, and many companies notice a dramatic increase in productivity after organising a team building event for members of staff. This is because staff are more likely to work towards a common cause after socialising with the people they work with, and they are more likely to feel appreciated by employers, thereby fuelling a desire to do well collectively for the company.
Team building events can resolve in-house disputes, and give the quieter member of staff a chance to prove him or herself. Through removing the constraints that are present in the working environment, everyone is equal as a person and within their right to demonstrate strengths and point out weaknesses. This in turn enables the astute manager to tap into the potential of each person for the benefit of the individual and the company.

Team building reduces inhibitions and allows a group of people to mix in a way that benefits every aspect of their personality, whether that is through finding hidden talents or highlighting problem areas. The purpose of team building is to encourage people to reach their potential and discover their strengths, and this is achieved through many different ways.
Ideally, the team building activity should be held away from the working environment, and it should be based on a theme that is not related too closely to work. This encourages people to not only relax, but to display other modes of behaviour. Through varying the tasks that are set throughout the day, each participant has a chance to demonstrate their particular skills, something that may not be possible in the normal working environment.
Through role reversals and task delegation the usual hierarchy will be broken down, and it is possible that managers and leaders will learn more about their staff in the space of a day than they have over their whole careers. The benefits of team building activities are not only beneficial for the working environment; they play a large part in personal development in all areas of a person’s life.
It may be that a particular task has taught a normally reserved person to speak up about their thoughts. If this breakthrough has happened in a nurturing and safe environment, such as at a team building day, the encouragement and support felt will anchor the new found courage. From an employer’s point of view, being able to tap into the hidden talents of staff is the equivalent of tapping into an oil well.
The more skills that can be harnessed and used toward a common goal, the more productive a company can be. From the point of view of an employee, recognising personal drawbacks and identifying hidden talents will help boost confidence, which in turn will make a positive impact in the working environment and in social circles.
The event coordinators that organise team building days are able to spot these pitfalls and plus points in a group of people, and can offer advice on how to manage a particular group of people more effectively within a workplace to increase company potential as well as providing a more pleasant working environment for all members of staff.
Through regular team building sessions, it is possible to encourage this growth for all memebers of staff, helping them develop their skills further for even greater benefit.
