There is nothing wrong with using a coupon at the cash register when you pay for your goods in store, and it is recommended by financial professional that every take advantage of the coupons stores print in magazines and give out on store shelves.
Now, for the people will do not care about losing money because they do not want to make use of a coupon in store, there is some good news. That is that there are now online coupons available. This means that you can now shop online with your coupons.

You can also do it and use a coupon, and the best part is that no one will know that you are using a coupon, because you are shopping online. Beef may be what is for dinner but where that beef comes from is a very important question that people should stop and ask themselves. While going to the local market and picking up some ground round is a convenience of modern life for the majority of people very few look at the quality of the meat that they are buying or how that beef came to be on the grocery store shelf.
The truth is that many of the cattle that are harvested for human consumption are raised in dark slaughter houses where they are shot full of hormones and growth stimulants to help the cattle to mature and gain as much meat on their bones as is genetically possible.
Along side a slew of other cattle all lined up in small confined pens the livestock that are butchered for supermarket shelves are fed a mixture of different foods that are not among the most nutritious or healthy for the animals to eat.
Mass production is the name of the game for American cattle farmers that are meeting the high demand for beef in the United States. Because beef is a staple item in many American homes the number of cattle slaughtered each year to meet consumer needs makes the inhuman raising of beef cattle a mandatory practice for many of the cattle breeders throughout the country.
The hormonally injected cattle are subjected to horrifying conditions that are then passed on to the consumer through the sale of meat at the supermarket. While the FDA has approved the practice of mass production and slaughter of cattle for human consumption and monitors the treatment and additives that cattle are given there is a better, healthier choice for consumers to make when it comes to purchasing meat for the family dinner table.
Cattle that are free from fillers and steroids, raised naturally on ranches in the open country are much healthier than their imprisoned counterparts. Free range cattle are given the freedom to eat the grasses and grains that grow naturally in their surroundings and are built up from natural muscle growth without artificial stimulants to contaminate the meat.
The animals that are harvested humanly have been organically raised by caring ranchers that are concerned about bringing a higher quality meat to the dinner table and deliver on their commitment to flavorful well aged beef that is better tasting and healthier for consumption. Although the organically raised beef is not available at the local butcher counter of the neighborhood grocery store the benefits of seeking out suppliers of naturally raised beef are well worth the effort it takes to bring healthier more appetizing meat to the dinner table.

Health food is all the rage these days. Restaurants like McDonalds who once found their success advertising greasy burgers and fries are now advertising healthy salads and fruits in an effort to give off a healthier image. However, despite many of people’s best efforts, even when these options are available they still eat the greasy, fat filled menu items that are conclusively detrimental to health.
This is because people are generally busier today that they were twenty, ten or even five years ago. People simply choose to eat our more in the interest of time and simplicity. People will statistically stick to the unhealthy foods that they are used to buying, simply because they have generally been conditioned to eat them as regular part of their diet. When they think about getting something quick and easy a burger comes to mind. Unfortunately the instances in life where people are looking for something quick and easy are becoming more and more frequent.
So what if you decide that you want to give up your quick and easy ways? Let’s say that you want to go a little more natural and get back to the way people used to live thousands of years ago. Unless you own a fairly substantial piece of land where you have space for your grain fields, a few chickens and a couple hogs, chances are that your best bet is going to be your local whole foods store.
If you have ever been to one of these you will know what I mean when I say that it is a completely different shopping experience. If you are looking for something quick and easy in an organic foods store, chances are you will be quite disappointed, unless of course you consider a good meal to be munching on some raw un-cracked whole wheat.
All the local brands you are familiar with and love will not be on the shelves and they are more likely to have a good selection of Amish cheese curds in place of the normal candy bar display. What this means is that in order to avoid all the usual and quick food options you will have to completely change your lifestyle.
Time will actually have to be taken out of the day to prepare meals, and shopping for all those individual ingredients will no doubt take hours. Despite all these hardships the rewards of going healthy are worth it. You will feel more energized, clear headed, and all around healthier.

The tradition of Halloween is relatively new to the United Kingdom. Until a couple of decades ago, at the end of every October and beginning of November British children were more likely to be found on busy high streets with a home-made life-sized dummy of a man - often stuffed into a pram or a trolley - asking shoppers for “a penny for the Guy” (Guy, of course, being Guy Fawkes, whose effigy is traditionally burnt on bonfires on 5th November, as a punishment for almost blowing up the Houses of Parliament in the 17th century). The pennies collected would usually be given to parents who would buy fireworks, to be set off on Bonfire Night.
However, in recent years the Halloween festival, celebrated the American way, has become increasingly popular in Britain, and ‘penny for the Guy’ has all but disappeared. Halloween parties and evening door-knocking by miniature witches, goblins and vampires have become norms that give children something to look forward to when the nights start drawing in, and which give supermarkets an excuse to stock up on bumper packs of sweets for ‘victims’ to hand out to trick-or-treaters.
But with British children having such fun with a very American tradition, we think it would be a lovely idea to give trick-or-treaters American candy, helping children to have an authentic American Halloween.
Here’s a selection of our favourite American candy which would be perfect for handing out to trick-or-treaters.
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
Fondant chocolate cups filled with peanut butter, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups are an all-American classic. There are three Reeses Peanut Butter Cups in each pack.
Reeses Pieces
Tasty peanut butter in crispy, crunchy candy shells - absolutely delicious, Reeses Pieces come in 43g bags and are perfect for handing out to trick-or-treaters, though you may be tempted to eat a few yourself!
Hersheys
Hersheys Cookies n Creme is a white chocolate bar which contains chocolate cookie bits - so it’s crunchy and chocolatey at the same time. Alternatively, there’s Hersheys Cookies n Chocolate, which is made of milk chocolate instead of white chocolate.
Hersheys Whatchamacallit is a peanut flavoured crisp candy topped with a layer of caramel and dipped in chocolate - and its name is pretty unforgettable! Or if you’re expecting a lot of little horrors knocking on your door, there’s Hersheys Miniatures. In this 150g bag you’ll find a bite sized selection of classic American chocolate, including Hershey’s Milk Chocolate, Hershey’s Krackel with milk chocolate and crisped rice, Hershey’s Special Dark and Hershey’s Mr Goodbar with creamy chocolate and crunchy peanuts.
Other classic Hersheys products include Milk Duds - delicious milk chocolate covered caramel candies - and Hersheys Kisses, which have an unusual shape and come in individually foil wrapped pieces, so they’re perfect for trick-or-treaters.
Oreo Cookies
Oreo cookies are the classic American sandwich biscuit, and the ‘proper’ way to eat them is to twist, lick and dunk - apparently! Oreo Cookies are two chocolate flavoured biscuits sandwiched together with a delicious vanilla flavoured filling. One box of Oreo Cookies contains 16 biscuits - so there’s plenty to go round, even if you get a huge troupe of little horrors knocking on your door!
Oreos also come in bags of miniature-sized pieces, which are the perfect size for smaller mouths.
Cracker Jacks
Cracker Jacks are little boxes of caramel coated popcorn and peanuts, and they’re a true American classic which have been around for over a hundred years. Cracker Jacks are famous for the tiny prizes concealed in each box, and for appearing in the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Each pack contains three 28g boxes of Cracker Jacks.
Fruit Gushers
A box of Fruit Gushers contains six 25g pouches of these delicious little chewy sweets that ooze a watermelon flavoured liquid when you bite into them. Is your mouth watering yet?
Candy Corn
If you’re only going to give out one type of American candy to your trick-or-treaters, then it has to be Candy Corn - it’s the traditional American Halloween treat. These little bite-sized pieces of candy are shaped to resemble corn kernels, and no Halloween candy collection would be complete without them!

Planning for a birthday party means you must determine the location, date and time, guest list, theme, food and beverages and activities. There are many details to work out and it can be difficult to make your birthday party stand out as an event to remember, let alone have the time to enjoy it yourself.
One addition you can make to your special event is to bring in popcorn machines, cotton candy machines and snow cone machines. These machines can be set up as self-serve, making them a delightful activity all on their own. Imagine your guests as they spin their very first own cotton candy or create their own “variety” of snow cone.
Popcorn Machines Make The Party Pop
There is just something about a traditional, two-wheeled popcorn machine that makes everyone feel at home and happy. Most popcorn machine rental companies can provide you with all the ingredients, including sweetened popcorn glaze and flavored seasonings, tubs and bags, cooking oil and, of course, gourmet popcorn.
Your guests will enjoy serving themselves from your rented popcorn machine as they chat with friends, observe the activities or take the edge off of their hunger. Popcorn is a healthful snack, loved by young and old alike and costs very little to provide and requires very little attention on your part.
Cotton Candy Machines Create Conversation
Your birthday party will be talked about for years to come once your guests discover the cotton candy machine! You are sure to see a crowd around this icon of circuses and carnivals around the world. The process is surprisingly simple and even the occasional “mistakes” will still be delicious and everyone will enjoy watching and participating in the process.
Like popcorn machines, cotton candy machines are simple and inexpensive to operate. Your guests will be entranced as they watch simple sugar magically transform into this classic, cloudlike confection. All you have to do is rent the cotton candy machine and invest in some sugar and paper cones, making it an inexpensive and entertaining attraction.
Beat The Heat With Snow Cone Machines
Many summertime birthday parties end up being less than they could be as guests become overheated and cranky. The simple addition of a snow cone machine at your birthday party can make a huge difference. Guests will enjoy creating their customized flavor combinations and the cooling effects of the ice will help them to enjoy the rest of the day’s events.
Birthday parties are happy occasions made even better with the simple addition of rented popcorn machines, cotton candy machines and snow cone machines. Not only do they provide your guests with delicious snacks, but they are quite entertaining on their own. Most online popcorn machine rental companies offer a variety of equipment sizes and delivery packages to simplify the process.
As your guests are fed and entertained with your popcorn machine and other additions, you will discover that you actually have the time to enjoy the birthday party yourself, freeing you to take those important photographs, catch up with a special friend or family member or simply to enjoy yourself as much as your guests.

Some of us just seem to attract unexpected company! (or freeloaders, as I teasingly call them in my home.) If you are the type of person whose home always seems to be where the party’s at, chances are you’re going to want a few quick and easy party appetizers in your repertoire. These are the type of recipes you can toss together in a few short minutes to feed –and impress– your party guests (both of the “invited” and the “unexpected” variety).
Heck, even if you’re the kind of person who rarely gives parties (in which case you’re probably feeling like it’s your turn now), you may be on the look out for appetizer ideas, too. Especially if you don’t host parties every couple of weeks, you don’t want to bog yourself down with overcomplicated recipes.
1. Blinis (aka Silver Dollar Pancakes)
Blinis are not only fancy-looking, versatile, and delicious, they are also quick and easy to make. You can make a fancy authentic blini batter if you want, but… why? Just use your regular pancake batter recipe and make tiny pancakes instead of full-sized ones. Then top them with whatever you want! My favorite easy party appetizer idea? Make up a “blini bar” where your guests can top their blinis with a variety of savory or sweet toppings. Some of my favorite blini toppings are:
- Creme fraiche and caviar
- Cream cheese, bacon pieces, and chives
- Creme fraiche and smoked salmon or trout
- Grated swiss cheese and wilted spinach
- Pickled beet, carrot, and cabbage slaw
- Brie, slivered almonds, and fruit preserves
- Chopped strawberries marinated in balsamic vinegar
- Chopped cooked or fresh apples with cinnamon
2. Cheese and Fruit Mini Kabobs
Especially for summer, light cheeses and fruit make wonderfully refreshing appetizers. They’re also elegant and super easy to make. Simple slice up some inch cubes of Roquefort, feta, and cheddar cheeses. Marinate the cheddar and feta in white wine for a few hours. Place one piece of each kind of cheese along with one apple slice, one grape, and one piece of melon on a small skewer. Arrange on a tray.
3. Quick Party Pinwheels
These easy party appetizers are incredibly quick to make and you will be sure to get requests for the recipe. To make your pinwheels, simply combine two bricks of softened cream cheese with 2 tbsp. dried herb mixture of your choice. Drain and stir in about 1/4 c. roasted red peppers and a small can of green chilies (If you like it hot, use chopped jalapeno peppers instead of the green chilies.) Then add a small can of sliced olives. Stir to mix and spread on several tortillas. Roll up the tortillas and slice each one diagonally at 1/2″ intervals to make pinwheels. Arrange prettily on a platter. These look really nice when arranged with the mini fruit and cheese kabobs on a tray or platter!
4. Stuffed Bacon Wraps
These are not only mouth watering but easy to make as well. Cut 1 pound of bacon slices in half crosswise and spread each slice on a large cookie sheet. Open an 8 oz can of crabmeat and place a small mound of crabmeat on one end of each half slice of bacon (shredded imitation crabmeat also works well!). Roll up bacon and broil in the oven, turning bacon as needed until bacon is cooked and crispy. Remove from broiler and insert a toothpick into each bacon roll. Serve with Duck Sauce or Honey Mustard.
5. Chocolate Covered Cherries
For either a snack or a dessert, these easy party appetizers are a great crowd pleaser when cherries are in season. Simply pit your cherries and dip them in dipping chocolate. Place on wax paper until cooled. Decorate with drizzles of white chocolate or crushed almonds, if desired. Keep your cherries in the refrigerator until your party is ready to begin.

China is a country where the appreciation of good food has been developed into a fine art. Chinese are epicures. Their cooking is distinctive: No other cooking resembles it in any way. There are many ways to cook Chinese food, but those who cook at home usually roast or steam their food.
Chinese food is rich, but not greasy: it is delicately flavoured, but not pungently spicy. Cook what is freshly slaughtered, and eat what is freshly cooked, a doctrine universally recognized throughout China. It is better that one should wait for the meal than that the meal should wait for one. Variety is another important feature.
A Chinese dish almost always consists of a mixture of foodstuffs - the meat or fish is generally cooked with, and improved by, the addition of some appropriate vegetable. All the material to be used is cut into convenient size in the kitchen before serving, so that no carving instruments are required at table.
All the condiments are added during the process of cooking, thus doing away with the necessity of the usual cruet. The only exception is some Soya bean sauce provided at the table in case it is required.
With the passage of time the methods of cooking have necessarily undergone many improvements as compared with the original crude processes.
The Many Influences Of Chinese Dishes
Expert cooks in different parts of China have introduced numerous improvements, and, with China being such a vast country, its component parts differing widely not only in climate and customs, but even in the spoken language, it is only to be expected that different terms are found in different localities for the same way of cooking.
For instance, roasting in the North is known as K’ao while in the South it is called Shao M. Similarly Shao Fan M M in North China means cooking rice, but in Canton they say Chu Fan. In these circumstances I have to employ those terms, which are more commonly used and are more generally understood. All the terms used in this little book are in the National language, that is, Mandarin (Kuo Yu).
Roasting is one common cooking method. There are two different ways of doing roasting: one is roasting over an open fire known as Chinese cooking utensil while the other is roasting in an oven.
By the first mentioned method we prepare roast suckling pig and barbecued Peking duck. In exactly the same way the Russians make “shaslick” and the Javanese “sateh” dishes, which are well known to foreigners in the Orient.
Making Your Own Chinese Food
The Cantonese dish known as “gold coin chicken” consisting of a combination of alternate pieces of ham, chicken and pork is made the same way. Material for barbecuing should be hung for six to seven hours, and then covered with the proper condiments.
Then it is fixed to a metal fork or skewer and held over a strong charcoal fire. Constant turning of the fork is necessary to ensure even roasting. In barbecuing a whole pig the skin should be punctured before roasting to secure an even surface at the end of the operation.
The material to be roasted is hung inside the oven, and both openings are closed. The result is identical with that of a modern gas or electric oven. When the meat is finished roasting it is soft, moist and ready to serve.

What do you think beer, chocolate, sandwiches, cough pills, potato chips, donuts, brandy, fruit preserves, icecream, coke and vinegar have in common?
Feeling quite in the dark? Probably a dark reddish. But it could also be amber, or yellow, or a nice warm brown… Puns aside, the on thing all the products we’ve listed (and many others as well) have in common is a little known substance, yet one that, as we’ve seen, is widely used : caramel colour.
This product has its origins in the distant past, and is probably one of the first colouring matters ever developed. And for this reason it has a very respectable story, and a field of application which, as appears clearly by skimming the list we wrote above (and we kept it short, lest we bore you!) is extremely wide throughout the food industry (and others as well…)
But what is caramel colour? Where does the colour we find in our beer can, and at the same time in the chips we have while watching a good movie on our sofa?
Well: caramel colour is essentially similar to the caramel that is sometimes prepared for decorating pastry and cakes, by melting sugar in a pot. In more scientific and precise terms, it is obtained by thermally treating carbohydrates (such as sugar, for example) in the presence of specific acids or salts. Sugar oxydation under these particular conditions produces a liquid concentrate, of slightly bitter taste and a typical smell of burnt sugar. And what’s more, depending on specific treatment this concentrate may have a spectrum of colours ranging from olive to a full yellow, and the intermediate hues we mentioned before, like reds, browns, amber… Specific colour is so important that a precise referral tool for hues, the linner index, was created to classify all the particular variations in colour that the finshed product may show.
But colour is most definitely not the only characteristic infact caramel is divided in three broad classes:
- caramel colour proper, which is used, as we saw, in fields ranging from brewing to soft drinks,
- burnt sugar, which is obtained by the transofrmation of saccarose alone, with no chemical additives, and is thus used in those applications where a final product with very specific characteristics is wanted, such as in the liquor industry,
- aromatic caramel, which is the most similar to homemade caramel and is mostly used in the pastry and sweets industry, for garnishing.
And other uses, you say ? We mentioned mostly food, but don’t think for a moment that this kind of product may stop at this application. In other fields, caramel colour finds application in cosmetics, pharmaceutical industries… and even in the building industry!
Caramel colour and burnt sugar has been Sicna’s specialized field for years.

Eating well and saving money don’t have to be mutually exclusive. If you’ve wanted to eat healthier but think you can’t afford it, think again. The key to eating healthfully on a budget is to plan your purchases, learn to cook from home, buy in bulk and take advantage of local produce. Here are some tips.
One of the biggest money wasters, and threats to good eating, is going to the grocery store without a plan. You can put yourself in an even worse position if you go to the store on an empty stomach.
The grocery store is full of temptations. Foods that are full of fat, calories and additives line the aisles in the stores. Make a list before you leave the house and be sure to have a healthy snack before you go. By preparing yourself before you go you can be sure that you’ll stave off temptation.
The second most important rule in eating healthfully on a budget is to cook at home. Packaged food costs a lot more money than the fresh ingredients that it takes to make them. If you haven’t made a habit of cooking at home before, start with a few simple recipes.
You can always expand your repertoire by taking a local healthy cooking class. When you cook at home, you can add lots of vegetables into recipes that normally don’t have them. Salads, soups and baked chicken meals can be prepared very inexpensively and healthfully at home.
You can save a lot of money at the grocery store by shopping around. Purchase products such as rice and vegetable stock in bulk. If you stock up on these basics you can save a lot of money in the long run.
Also, try to shop from more than just one store. You can often save a lot of money if you shop around and find the best prices. Make sure to arrange your cooking menu around the sales and you’ll always be able to save money. After a few weeks of comparing prices, you’ll know right off the bat where you can save the most on each item that you need.
Any healthy diet should be full of vegetables and fruits. For these, make sure you are looking at sources locally. Take advantage of farmer’s markets and fruit stands in your area. Even if the food is not organic, buying your fruits and vegetables from local farmers has benefits over buying food that is shipped across the state or across the country.
With a little time and dedication to saving money, you can find deals on healthy food. Apply these tips on your next shopping trip and you’ll be eating healthy for less.

Have you ever heard the expression, “People eat with their eyes”? It’s an idiom I only recently learned, but I can certainly verify that it’s true. Did you also know that research suggests that people are least likely to eat or even sometimes drink things that are blue, as it seems the most unnatural color to ingest? Weird, isn’t it?
But if you think about it, it actually doesn’t seem all that strange. When it comes to great cuisine, we generally want it to appeal to all of our senses. For instance, have you ever come home when your spouse was cooking dinner and the aroma permeated the whole house? You could feel your mouth beginning to water as you followed your nose to the kitchen, right?
Knowing these things can be a great key to unlock your customer base if you are in the food retail industry. This means that it isn’t just about the packaging anymore–not only does your logo have to be pretty and your slogan catchy, but the food item itself needs to be visually appealing.
One way to draw in potential customers without having to cook up a whole gourmet meal that is still gorgeous is to create and give out samples of your product. This is a very non-threatening, no-risk way for shoppers to literally see what your product is all about–not to mention how it tastes and/or smells!
If you realize that your product is unattractive by itself–on a plate or a little paper cup–you might want to think about making some adjustments if at all possible, particularly if it has to do with color. Color in food products is one of the easiest things to change, so keep in mind what I said earlier about people being repelled by food products that are blue. If people aren’t even attracted to your samples, that could be why!
Providing samples at grocery stores, drug stores, specialty food stores, or wholesale warehouses can be tough, especially since it can get a little pricey on your end. But just try it for a day or two during a weekend, and maybe try it at some community event like a farmers’ market. If you notice a boost in your sales, continuing the practice at select high-traffic times may be well worth it!
In my personal opinion, you should avoid handing out literature on your product or using salespeople to man the sample counter. This undoubtedly chases people away.
Make sure the display is beautiful, too–whether you’re selling cold food or hot, it can be equally appealing. But if your product also smells especially good, be sure to make sure those aromas leak out from time to time, too. Good luck!
